Ballymoney United 0 v Loughgall 2
Loughgall overcame a relatively poor first half performance to see off Ballymoney United with a great display in the second period.
The goals also came in the second half through Dean Smith and Ryan Evans to keep the Villagers at the top of the Ladbrokes.com Championship table.
Joe McCall shuffled the pack with Aiden O Kane suspended and he opted for Gareth McLaughlin up front instead of Richard Reid.
United were extremely dangerous in the first half and should have been going in at the break in the lead.
The quick forward line of Gareth McLaughlin and David Nicholl caused Loughgall problems in
defence and in the 33rd minutes both strikers will felt they could have done better with respective efforts.
Firstly Nicholl forced 'keeper Marc Robinson into a great parry from a ferocious drive and shortly after, McLaughlin could only muster a weak shot when he had worked an opportunity inside the away penalty area.
Six minutes before the interval central defender Neil Alderdice tried an ambitious 35-yard shot which almost paid dividends only for goalkeeper Simon Smyth to tip the hard strike over the crossbar.
The opener came eight minutes into the second period when Dean Smith found the bottom corner with a fantastic volley on the edge of the Ballymoney penalty area.
United had a decent chance to equalise in the 70th minute only David Gage snapped at his first time shot, firing a low cross wide of the target from close range.
Loughgall's lead was extended with 15 minutes remaining as Steven Hyndes cross from the left wing found it's way to Ryan Evans in the penalty area. Winger Evans shot beyond 'keeper Smyth and although it was acrobatically cleared by David Gage, the ball had already crossed the goal line as the assistant referee verified.
