Ballymoney United 6 - 1 Dunaghy

The much anticipated local derby got of to a flying start when Gareth McLaughlin intercepted a poor back pass in the Dunaghy defence to open the scoring in the first minute.
Dunaghy settled after this early setback and tried to unsettle United but Ballymoney kept their heads and played possession football however in the eighth minute Blair broke down the right and fired in a great cross for Nicholl to head into the Ballymoney goal for the equaliser.
Ballymoney quickly regained their composure and immediately brought a great save from McVicker in the visitor’s goal pushing a Surgenor shot on to the crossbar and again McVicker saved from Burnside who should have scored from the rebound.
In the twenty second minute Gillan overlapped and put a great cross in to McLaughlin who deftly flicked the ball over Gault and calmly side footed past McVicker for his and Ballymoney's second.
Both teams had periods of possession with Christie working hard in midfield for Dunaghy but again it was Ballymoney who created the chances when in the thirty fifth minute O’Kane brought a good save out of McVicker. Burnside squandered an easy chance just before half time.

Ballymoney started the second half as they had started the first with McLaughlin completing his hat trick with a twenty yard screamer on forty seven minutes. It was all Ballymoney at this stage and McKinney rattled the post on forty nine minutes with McVicker well beaten.
It was backs against the wall for the Dunaghy defence with McDowell, Gault and Small all having very good games keeping Ballymoney at bay.
On the hour Brady missed an easy chance hitting the ball straight into the keeper’s arms. Hogg broke down the right rounded Elder and unselfishly passed to McQuitty whose shot was saved by McVicker and crossed by McQuitty from the rebound to McLaughlin who made no mistake for his and Ballymoney's fourth goal on seventy minutes.
There was no stopping the in form McLaughlin when on eighty minutes he unleashed a fierce shot from twenty five yards into the roof of the net giving McVicker no chance for his fifth goal of the game.
Ballymoney continued to attack and Brady scored Ballymoney's sixth from a twenty yard free kick on eighty five minutes.
