Ballymoney United 0 v Ards 3
Ballymoney United were left cursing their luck as they went down to a 3-0 home defeat at the hands of Ards on Saturday.
Nothing seemed to go well for Joe McCall's men as they wilted in the wind against an organised visiting outfit who now sit third in the Championship.
Ballymoney started the game well with Hudson causing the visitors problems with his runs into the box. At the other end Smyth had no difficulty in saving McIlhagga’s shot from outside the box.
The strong wind played a major part in Ards opening goal, a corner from the left by Wright sailed over Smyth and into the net at the back post.
The home side reacted well to this setback and almost drew level immediately when Denver Gage rose above the Ards defence to unleash a powerful header against the visitors post and back into the path of Surgenor who volleyed well wide.
A poor clearance by Smyth presented McIlhagga with a glorious chance to double the visitors lead, but the big keeper spread himself to deny the chance.
Denver Gage was in the right place at the right time to clear McCleavey's header of the line at the start of the second half.
The sides were almost level in spectacular style when Surgenor pounced on a loose ball and unleashed a fierce volley from 30 yards just wide with the keeper well beaten.
The visitors should have made it 2 nil when McMillan put in Stirling with a superb ball but the striker delayed his shot allowing Denver Gage to block his goal bound effort.
The second goal eventually came when Wright finished of a fantastic pass from McMillan.
With the game almost over Stirling made it 3 nil with a clinical finish into the bottom corner.
